Crime by type
Murder
Valkea has a low homicide rate, with 0.68 reported incidents of homicide per 100,000 people. Nearly 80% of those murdered are men, while nearly 70% of all cases took place in major metropolitan areas such as Källälivi, Novika, and Osterlund. Firearms were used in 18% of all reported cases.
Sexual crimes
The number of reported incidents of rape has significantly increased in recent years. 619 cases of rape were reported to the police in 2003, which rose to 1533 cases in 2023. Young people between the ages of 15 and 34 have the highest risk of being sexually assaulted.
Financial crime
Organized crime
The Valkean National Bureau of Investigation has identified numerous organized crime groups currently in the country. Motorcycle gangs such as the Hellhounds, Roadkills, Outcasts, Dry Bones, and Road Vikings rose to prominence in the 1970s and 1980s and were historically involved in weapons smuggling and drug-related offenses. Street gangs are common in major Valkean cities, and their members are often of immigrant origin.
