Pontiac-Bernadotte is the capital and largest city in Gristol-Serkonos. Formerly an independent city-state formed by an Odawa chief and a minor Gristol Lord, Pontiac-Bernadotte is a historic city that has often played host to Gristo-Serkonan diplomatic summits.
History
Founding
Asherionic Wars
The Free City of Pontiac-Bernadotte became a front-line during the Asherionic Wars. The combined Gristo-Serkonan Army marched towards the city following the fall of Donnaconna. The fortress around Marin Palace was used a defensive position, providing artillery fire and delaying Asherion's assault on the city.

Due to its status as the meeting place of historically importance for the two nations, the new Federal Government of the unified Gristol-Serkonos established its seat in the city.
Government and politics
Local Government
The city is a Federal Crown City governed by a mayor-council government. The structure of the municipal government is stipulated by the Federal Crown City Act. The mayor of Pontiac-Bernadotte is elected by direct popular vote to serve as chief executive of the city. The Pontiac-Bernadotte City Council is a unicameral legislative body, comprising of 75 councilors, representing geographical wards throughout the city. The city council is seated the New City Hall in the Waterfront neighbourhood of Old Bernadotte.
Pontiac-Bernadotte had an operating budget of $18 billion in 2020, and a ten-year capital budget and plan of $30 billion. The revenues of the city include subsidies from the Federal Government and the two Constituent Countries. The city's largest expenditures are the Pontiac-Bernadotte Metro System and the Pontiac-Bernadotte Police Service.
