Marklin-Ashton Global PHG (doing business as the Marklin-Ashton Corporation) is a Gristo-Serkonan Handelsgruppe specializing in engines, power generation equipment, luxury cars, and grand tourers. The company was founded in 1795 by industrialists Philip Ashton and José Marklin-Deer as a manufacturer of steam engines. It successfully manufactured its first gasoline-powered internal combustion engines in 1878 and soon founded an automobile division two years later, releasing the Marklin-Ashton Automobile Model 1 after years of testing in 1893.
The company became associated with expensive grand tourers in 1948. Even as its automobile division flourished, Marklin-Ashton continued to developing engines. The engines division soon begun manufacturing aircraft engines in 1907 and begun exploring rocket engine development in 1935. The company's headquarters and main production facility of automobiles are located in Kruiningen, Drachten. Additional production facilities for marine, aerospace, energy and rocket engines are located in Cavignac, Valois.
Marklin-Ashton today has over 160 car dealerships across the world, making it a global automotive brand. The company is also the xth-largest maker of aircraft, marine, and land-based internal combustion engines and has major business presence in energy sectors as well as rocket and missile propulsion design and manufacturing. Ownership remained with Philip Ashton and José Marklin-Deer's descendants up until 1976 when their ownership was consolidated under into a single entity in which both families control. Later the same year the company became public on the Griswald Stock Exchange.

Business Units
Marklin-Ashton Motors
Seeing the potential of the first gasoline-powered engine, the Marklin-Ashton Motors was founded in 1880 with the goal of manufacturing a self-propelled vehicle for carrying people. Following a lengthy development, the Marklin-Ashton Automobile Model 1 was unveiled to the 1893 Royal Exhibition in Griswald. The Model 1 is a three-wheeled car with a one-cylinder gasoline-powered engine, capable of 0.9-metric-horsepower. About 30 Model 1's were built between 1893 to 1899.
Marklin-Ashton found more success with the Marklin-Ashton Viscount. The Viscount is a four-wheeled car with a 1L 3-metric-horsepower single-cylinder engine capable of achieving speeds of 19 km/h. The Viscount was also the company's first mass-produced vehicle, taking inspiration from production techniques seen in Sante Reze. By the end of the production of the first generation of Viscounts, Marklin-Ashton produced a total of 3,000 vehicles.
