Kitai, officially the Province of Kitai is one of the 15 Tayichian territorial subdivisions of the highest order, covering 17,801 square kilometers (6,873 sq mi), the fifth smallest. It has a population of 3.2 million, the ninth overall.
Yamaguchi is the capital and largest city, while other large cities include Fukuyama, Izumo, Nagato and Toyama, while the southernmost regions of the province fall within the borders of the Idaina Metropolitan Area.
