Kanin-class guided-missile destroyers are destroyers operated by the Svetvostok Navy. It was constructed from 2002 to 2011 with a total of 15 ships, of which only 12 are active.

History

Kanin-class destroyers were built to close the gap between the naval power of major powers and the Svetvostok Navy, and to strengthen the Svetvostok Navy, which stayed in the Brown-Water Navy then. Until the early 2010s, ships that could operate in the distant ocean were rare for the Svetvostok Navy. The Navy mainly focused on coastal defense, so the Svetvostok Navy was not rated to have a large deterrant force.
