Eskavia (Waldish: Eskland, Eskavian: Eskävisik), officially the Federated States of Eskavia (Waldish: Forbundsstatene Eskland, Eskavian: Eskävisikut Häkilnu), is a sovereign state in Elia Australis. It lies between the Medan Ocean to the west, TBA to the northwest, TBA to the northeast, the Alconian Ocean to the west, and the X Ocean to the south. Eskavia's capital and largest city is Kalonak, with other major cities including Fossenvik, Pelåvano, Sankt Halvard, and Mariestad. With a population of more than 38 million and a total area of XXX,XXX square kilometers, Eskavia is the Xth most populous and Xth largest nation in the world.

Humans have inhabited Eskavia for at least 12,000 years. The first Calesian explorers arrived in 1510, after which both Falland and Waldrich established colonies in the region. In 1718, Waldrich annexed Fallish Eskavia as a consequence of the Waldish–Fallish War and consolidated the region under its control. An Eskavian national identity began to emerge after the Revolution of Nations in Elia Borealis, culminating in the failed Nybyggerkrigen of 1803. The Eskavian independence movement did not recover until the 1860s, when the Second Cuthish War severely weakened Walrich's ability to administer its Elian colonies. In 1868, a revolutionary wave swept through Waldish Eskavia and ultimately brought an end to Waldish rule in continental Elia Australis. Frequent border wars between the newly independent polities prevented the former colonies from taking steps towards unification until 1887, when Waldrich attempted to militarily repatriate the Hisuka peninsula. The war prompted the creation of the West Eskavian Confederation, a defensive alliance between several of the region's most powerful states. In 1903, the Confederation invaded the Waldish-held Lapik Islands in support of a nationalist rebellion. In the war's aftermath, the Confederation was consolidated into a federal state and reorganized as the Federated States of Eskavia.

Eskavia fought several further wars of conquest during the early 20th century to unify the historic Eskavian territories, culminating with the annexation of Jolnu in 1911. During the Great War, Eskavia initially remained neutral but joined the Transmedan Powers after the Nadauran invasion of Terrafirma. The conflict established Eskavia as a regional power in Elia Australis and paved the way for a major economic expansion in the post-war era. In the 1950s, Eskavia and Nadauro fought a brief and decisive war against neighboring X which solidified the former two nations as the leading military powers on the continent. Since the end of the 20th century, relations with Nadauro have begun to deteriorate as Eskavia has adopted an increasingly aggressive foreign policy stance.

Eskavia is categorized as both a regional power and a middle power, and is sometimes considered to be an emerging great power. It is a developed country that ranks highly in measures of quality of life, health, education, and economic freedom. It is a high-income economy which is the second-largest economy on the continent by total nominal GDP. Eskavia is generally considered to be among the most mature liberal democracies in Elia Australis, with strong protections for civil liberties and high political stability. Eskavia possesses the Xth largest military force and Xth highest defense budget in the world, and is in the process of developing a blue-water navy with global power projection capabilities. The nation is a founding member of the United Congress, TBA, TBA, and TBA.
