Ar Lavo is the most populous city of Odevia. With a census population of 5,385,992 within 7 districts, more than 7 million people live in the Greater Ar Lavo Area, making it the second-largest metropolitan area in the Wider Realms behind Unna. Ar Lavo is a global centre for finance and commerce, culture, technology, entertainment, media, and academia. With Common as the common language, Ar Lavo is one of the most multicultural areas of the world.
The city is located on one of the world's largest natural harbours in the western coast of the Odevian state of Radistan West with a tropical savanna climate. Its waterways have been used for millennia; the present Port of Ar Lavo is the largest in the world. The Greater Ar Lavo Area spans Radistan West, composing two-thirds of the states' population, and Williamsland in the western suburbs. The city is a dominant railway, highway, and air-transport hub for the South-West and the western hemisphere. The Ar Lavo Subway innaguareted in 1881 is the oldest rapid transit system and presently one of the busiest in the world. The Ar Lavo Express is the commuter rail system.
Common Standard is the de facto official language in municipal government, and serves as the primary lingua franca in business, media, and day-to-day life and communications. Just short of a majority of Ar Lavites are native Common speakers; Radi is the second-most spoken native language in the city, while almost all languages in Odevia are represented in the city's diverse linguistic groups. Dozens of other immigrant languages are spoken forming diverse neighbourhoods. Ethnically, the city is diverse. 71% of Ar Lavo residents are Odevian citizens.
Ar Lavo composes the quarter of the Odevian economy. The Ar Lavo Stock Exchange (ALSE) is the largest in the world.
