From Late Middle Kerasian ܟܘܝܿܪܠ - joesp, joasp, joæsp ("eagle"), from Early Middle Kerasian ܟܥܝܵܬܠ - jawæsēp ("fish eagle"), from Old Kerasian ܩܘܐܿܬܠ - iowætseop, yowætseop ("any bird in the genus Icthyophaga"), from North Aradeshi yihwacheup, ihwacheup, ihwacheup, from Aradeshi kifuacheupe ("Usnistani fish eagle"), from kifua ("chest") + cheupe, an inflected form of -eupe ("white").
