The Province of Vanyaael, commonly known as Vanyaael, is a coastal exclave and imperial province of Amador in Gholgoth bordered by the western Alfarian Sea to the north, and bordered by Seclya on the east, south, and west sides of its territory. Vanyaeel was once an independent elven kingdom that existed for several millennia, but was formally inducted into Amador following the Vanyaaeli Collapse in 403 AD. The capital and largest city in Vanyaeel is Tir Ellis

Vanyaael is known for its its extensive forests, including the Forest of Alinor, home to the largest concentration of Alfar Godswood trees in the world. It is governed by the Archon Saria Gilhana, a Vanyaaeli noble of the Great House of Gilhana. As with its mainland motherland, Vanyaael is ruled by the Alfar, with the Vanyaaeli variant being its most prominent population, though cohabitation with non-human species is prevalent. Vanyaael swears subservience to the reigning monarch of Amador, Maeralya Amador.

Vanyaael is a regional center for nature tourism, architecture, and is home to the largest naval base in the Imperium, Salenriel Naval Base in Tir Nala. It is highly developed, possessing a high nominal GDP per capita and low economic inequality. It is known for its reusable energy programs and vibrant coastal sea life.

Vanyaael is the primary nexus for imperial relations between Amador and Seclya and also served as the staging point of Amador's invasion of the Hakulic-held areas of Seclya in the War of the Leaves, which saw the importance of the province in establishing the Elven Pact.

History

The Vanyaaeli Republics (2343 BCE - 403 AD)

In the wake of Gailabatriz's assassination, several key cities, including Mathanas, Tir Ellis, and Hokiel would rebel against the central authority created by Gailabatriz, vying for the remnants of Gailabatriz's realm. Several cities would ultimately establish themselves as city-states, forming the Patorean Union of Republics, a unifying state of of Vanyaaeli Republics that would propser for much of the next two millennia. In particular, Tir Ellis would establish itself as the dominant city-state amongst the other republics, offering itself as a prime trading destination and supreme military power in the small territory.

The Collapse (398 AD - 403 AD)

With tensions rising between Tir Ellis Hokiel, the Tri-Partisan Pact was created between Hokiel, Mathanas, and Elvatar to oppose the domineering Tir Ellisian King, Galnatoral. The subsequent war, the Dalamshiral War, would see the three city-states and much of Vanyaael fight against Tir Ellis to a stalemate. In the waning months of the war, the successful assasination of Galnatoral fractured Tir Ellis' ruling council, before the city iself was consumed by internal strife and conflict that ultimately spread to other Vanyaaeli city-states. The Imperium would ultimately intervening, conducting a naval invasion of Tir Ellis and Hokiel with resounding success. Formal surrenders would ensue and Imperial Legions would march through the two capital cities by 403 AD. The quick subjugation of the cities forced the remainder of Vanyaael to submit to Alfar rule and be formally inducted into Amador the same year.

War of the Leaves (2000 AD - 2004 AD)

The War of the Leaves brought imminent importance to Vanyaael, which by the twenty-first century, had existed as a province of Amador for 1600 years. Imperial forces would mark their invasion of Seclya against the Hakulic forces from deep within the Forest of Alinor in the territorial exclave, leading to vast swathes of northern Seclya being turned over to the Seclyai rebels.

Geography

Vanyaael is an exclave of Amador to the west of the mainland, being bordered by Seclya on its west, east, and southern borders, while the West Alfarian Sea creates Vanyaael's northern sea border.

The KoA Census Bureau reports roughly 391,001,283 citizens of varying species call Vanyaael home. Vanyaael itself is the second small province by total population after Kva Norale when not including it among mainland Amador as it is an exclave. Rapid population growth from 1920 to the 1980s census saw Vanyaael's population more than double to 294,387,379 from 142,937,182. The province would exceed 300,000,000 in 1983.

The population includes countless species of sentient life, with the Vanyaaeli elves beings its most prominent at 54%, followed by the Alfar at 23%. The Vanyaaeli elves are close cousins to the Alfar, possessing sharper ears and a somewhat darker complexion.

Vanyaael's population is largely clustered along the coast in large metropolises, though there still remains sizable settlements in the central plains and along the Seclyai border.

Religion in Amador, and by extension, Vanyaael, is universally free by proclamation of the government of Amador, immortalized in the Religious Freedom Act of 1708 and signed into law by queen Maeralya, despite heavy opposition against the Universal Rite of the Scandin Church led by the Scandinvans, Amador's time-honored rival and occasional enemies.

By the Queen's grace, no governing body, nor interfering body, can forbid the free exercise of religion in Amador and its territories. Religion, as a result, is widely practiced by most Amadorian households, though atheism has seen a rise among human populations in recent decades, whereas faith in the Eternal Flame, has seen an uptick in recent years.

The Eternal Flame is the most followed religion in Amador. It worships the Phoenix and its brethren, the Stag, the Leviathan, the Dragon, and the Aether - each of which represents the elemental facets of natures: Fire, Nature, Water, Air, and Soul. With the Phoenix as its chief deity, the five aspects form the Ithronel, or the pantheon of the Eternal Flame. The Phoenix is the celestial manifestation of of the Eternal Flame that gives light to Amador. The Eternal Flame was granted to the first rulers of Amador and has since been passed down through the millennia to a Keeper of the Eternal Flame. Keepers are often considered deities in their own right, having power and influence that oftentimes exceeds or matches the will of the monarchy, with religion and state often intertwining. The current keeper is Cylia Amador, Second Princess of the Imperium. Roughly 60% of Amadorian households hold faith over the Eternal Flame.

Amador is a religiously diverse nation, with much of the human populations practicing varying faiths just as Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Shinto, and several others. Amador's de facto nation religion is the Eternal Flame. Non-human species practice their own sects of faith, while the Alfar almost entirely oversee the Eternal Flame, with a very small minority in Amaldorei practicing a dualist religion known as the Church of the Twin Sisters.

Religious intolerance does exists, with the Universal Rite of the Scandin Church, the primary religion of Amador's long-time nemesis, the Scandinvans, being a small but prominent sect of religion in Amador. Legislation and protests have been prominent in recent years, demanding the denouncement and expulsion of the religion and its followers in Amador. There have been several protests turned violent since 2010 against the Universal Rite, leading to several deaths and infrastructure damage. The monarchy and Eternal Flame are currently discussing the legality of the Rite and considering expulsion of its followers to protect national and civilian interest in Amador.

Urbanization

Vanyaael is heavily urbanized, with its coastal areas being more densely populated than its interior territories.Nine-three percent of the population lives in urban areas, with eighty-two percent of the urban population living in coastal cities. Vanyaael has five cities with populations exceeding ten million and a total of eight cities with populations exceeding one million. Vanyaael's urban population percentage is greater than mainland Amador.

Vanyaael's largest city is Tir Elliss with a population over forty million, while Manthanas, with a populartion of twenty-seven million, is the second largest city and urban area in Vanyaael. Hokiel is the third largest city.
