The President of New California is the head of state and government of New California. The governor is the commander-in-chief of the California National Guard. The office was created in 2031 upon New California's declaration of independence, with Mike McGuire becoming the first office-holder. The current president is Tia Ferch, having served since since January 20, 2041. As a consequence of term limits, Ferch was unable to run in the 2048 election, which was won by fellow New Socialist Theodore Hendricks.
