The Republican Party (Zaihanese: 共和黨 Gònghé dǎng), sometimes referred to as the Gonghedang, is the ruling party of Zaihan. Founded in 1933 during the imperial era, the party was instrumental in overthrowing the monarchy and establishing the country's modern political system. It is currently the largest political party in the country and controls the legislative and executive branches of government, holding 876 out of the 1065 seats in the National Assembly. Most political scientists characterize it as a party of power within Zaihan's dominant-party system.
