Votyalia (Votyalic: Вотялья, tr. Votyal'ya), officially the Federal Republic of Votyalia (Votyalic: Федеративная Республика Вотялии, tr. Federativnaya Respublika Votyalii) is a sovereign federal semi-presidential parliamentary republic located in north-eastern Borealis. Votyalia borders Masovya to the west, and both Kolchakska and Vrilissia to the south; to the north rests the ocean and the north pole. Votyalia's land area is __________ km2, or __________ sq mi, making it one of the largest nations in the world. Its estimated population in 2018 was over 95 million, making it one of the most populated nations among the nations of the Eastern Continents. The majority of the nation's population lives in the south, and particularly the south-east near the inland sea of Rassvetmore. Major cities include the national capital, Zolodolina, as well as Galkino-Vraskoye and the port city of Varykino. Historically, Votyalia comprised a significant part of the Votyalic Empire, which included neighboring states such as Masovya and Kolchakska until its collapse in the late 19th-century.
The Votyalic ethnic group initially emerged in and around modern-day Masovya and Votyalia in the early centuries CE, and were initially ruled by various disparate knyazes over the course of the 6th through the 10th centuries.
