The Empire of the Rhomeans (Greek: ἡ Βασιλεία τῶν Ῥωμαίων), commonly known as Greater Rhomais or simply Rhomais (Greek: Ῥωμαΐς), is a sovereign state in ... in Astyria. Its capital is Leopolis, the seat of the Rhomean Emperors and metropolitan see of the Ecumenical Patriarch.

The first Emperor of the Rhomeans, Leo I, united the various Greek-speaking peoples of the region in the 4th century AD, whilst successive Emperors expanded their territory to the North and East. The Empire consequently developed a multi-ethnic cultural milieu, whilst maintaining a Greek cultural majority, and remains characterised by a complex collection of imperial and aristocratic traditions, suspicion of and resistance to Western or Latin cultural influence, and Eastern Orthodox Christianity.
