Grand Duke Ivan Petrov Ivanovich(Ivan Petrov Ivanovich; born 15 June 2068) is a member of the Russian royal family. He is currently 3rd in line to the throne behind his father who is the heir presumptive to his cousin, Catherine V.
Early Life
As the eldest son of the deeply conservative rooted Grand Duke Ivan, a young Ivan was much valued by both of his parents. Against his father's wishes, he was brought up in a fairly liberal environment. Unlike his sister Olga who was born 3 years later, Ivan's education were comprised of the standard educational subjects for male Russian aristocrat teenagers. From the study of poetry to eventually the military, Ivan initially harboured deep resentment for the choices made but soon came to embrace it overtime.
Military Career
Upon graduating at a local secondary school in St Petersburg, Ivan took the expected choice of pursuing a military career as he pursued his training at the Suvorov Military Academy. Noted for his exceptional leadership and abilities in marksmanship, Ivan scored considerably above average in the respective tests conducted. Upon his graduation, he was formally commissioned as a Second Lieutenant of the Russian Army.
To the present day, Ivan maintains an active career in the Russian military, having served in several military operations inside and outside of the state such as the Insurgency in Crimea which has since been reportedly halted with temporary talks. He currently holds the rank of Major in the Russian Land Forces.
Under Catherine V
When it was initially determined that the new and young tsarina was "mentally unfit" to rule, several ministers rallied around the younger Grand Duke, whom in contrast to the much older Ivan was considered as being "fairly open-minded, and a progressive leader". In addition, his military background had won him some considerable support from the military officers. However, despite pressure to become regent in his cousin's place, Ivan refused to ratify any sorts of advancement, which he labelled as "illegal and destabilizing". For a few years, the senior Ivan did eventually took over as regent for the tsarina before she formally usurped her responsibilities as monarch.
Personal Life
While Ivan maintains an exquisite balance between conservatism and liberalism in his overall personality, he is also credited with his then discreet contribution into the Russian arts of poetry. Aside from being the patron of several Russian poetry organisations, he is also a stern advocate for environmentalism in Rurik Russia.
