The League of Workers and Farmers (Sarvalian: Työntekijöiden ja maanviljelijöiden liiga) is the founding and governing political party of Sulatia. The party is currently the only permitted political party in the nation, following the ratification of the nation's most recent constitution in 1987. This gives the party an effective monopoly on the political system of the country.

Founded in 1895, the party first stood for election in the Eduskunta in the 1898 elections, winning six seats with 3.6% of the vote. These numbers would reach their maximum in 1907 where it received 38 out of 397. When the Great War broke out, the party joined the wartime coalition government under the Presidency of Kirsipuu Juho. Following the war's conclusion, the League formally left the coalition to prepare for the general election that would take place in the coming months. When elections took place that October, the League improved its previous seat total with 57 won. The effects of demobilization of the military and wartime economy had a profound effect on the socioeconomic situation in Sulatia, and despite being a victor in the war, found itself being increasing destabilized.

The party won a supermajority following the collapsed of the Järvelä-led National Government in 1915. Immediately following its electoral victory, President Hikala Niko passed sweeping social and economic reforms aimed at combating unemployment and other economic woes. In 1916, a new constitution was ratified enshrining the reforms passed by the First Hikala ministry. In order to stabilize the economy while it implemented the reforms, the Popular Tribunal was reformed to the Committee of Public Safety with Hikala elected as its inaugural president. The party would remain in power following 1916, and in 1987, was made the sole legal political party in the nation.

Historically, the party was organized along democratic centralist ideals, although this was abandoned in favor of council democracy and further party decentralization once the temporary suspension on elections was lifted in 1944. The highest authority is the National Convention of the Republic, which meets every other year in the legislative capital of Karvistonpuoli. The day-to-day running of the party is largely the responsibility of the Committee of Public Safety.

Politically, the League has no official ideology, but de facto ascribes to radical republican and communist theory and ideas. The cessation of democratic centralism in 1944 saw the rise of internal political factions, called clubs (kerhot). Their formation has led to many political scientists to describe the party as a "broadly far-left big-tent party." Through the clubs, the league supports theories such as permanent revolution to social democracy.
