History

1970s

Upon it's founding by a group of elite businessmen during the Imperial Golden Age. Within a years timeframe, they raised enough funding to purchase the first aircraft of the fleet, a Boeing 747 that was purchased from an airline that was shifting to a different airplane. Their first flight was on the 23rd of January, 1975. The flight was from the outlying city of Blagraland and was a direct flight to the City of Berwin along the western lake shoreline. By 1979 the airline had expanded its fleet to 10 Boeing 747s and was operating 15 flights per day that linked several cities.

1980s

The 1980s were the most trying time for ShazAir as several of its 747s had unexpected engine failure during the mid-1980s. It was found out after a few of them were inspected that a defect was unintentionally created within the engine by using substandard parts. There were several incidents that occurred which caused more than Twelve of its now Twenty-Five 747s to have to make emergency landings everywhere from small municipal airports to larger city airports.
It was the decision of the corporation to suspend operations until such a time as a throughout check of all aircraft in the fleet was completed, causing a major hit to the profits of the corporation and almost caused an economic downturn within the aviation industry. After multiple marketing campaigns and extensive testing out the rest of the fleet of Boeing 747s, it was determined that those dozen aircraft on the only ones affected by the defect of the engines. Although, with this turn of events, the Corporation begin to look to other avenues for the purchase of aircraft to replace is the Boeing 747 fleet.

1990s

During this decade, the Corporation expanded it's fleet to include nearly 34 Airbus A-310 and expanded it's operation to include destinations within a few Nations part of an alliance the Empire was a member of called the Commonwealth of Independent Nations. After the fall of the alliance and some infighting with a couple members, the Board of Directors made the decision to cease flights in the later part of the decade.
Expansion of domestic flights helped to offset the cost of ending flights to foreign entities. this was mainly due to the expansion of flights to three other minor cities and one large municipality within the Imperial mainland. several cities even saw an expansion of flights to that location, including adding more flights to the outer lying cities to boost the tourism industry.
During the later parts of the 1990s for every Airbus that was purchased, the corporation retired one of its Boeing 747s. By 1998, all of the Boeing 747s were retired from service and the entirety of the fleet was made up of Airbus Aircraft.

2000s

This decade saw several attempted highjackings of ShazAir flights, with one successful attempt that caused the days of 230 people when the highjackers attempted to fly the plane to a foreign nation but ran out of fuel and then the aircraft crashed into the ocean. It took 3 weeks for the wreckage to be located and another week for a salvage ship to pull the wreckage up and return the Bodies of the victims home to the imperial mainland for proper burial.
Due to this incident, airport security was overhauled and background checks for entry into the Empire were expanded and the wait time was prolonged more than 3 months to ensure that all avenues were completed before entry was authorized for anyone seeking to visit Shazbotdom.

Current

In 2012, after a lengthy discussion within the Board of Directors, the corporation decided that it was time to begin looking for other aircraft to supplement the fleet. For a few years, they looked through the catalogs of various aircraft manufacturers until 2015, when they ran across the Halcyon Arms catalog noticed the two civilian aircraft that it had developed for long and medium range flights.
In that same year, they also noticed Zeus Defense Industrial catalog for short and medium range civilian aircraft. After discussions with a local builder were completed, the corporation put forth a purchase order to both companies to purchase the Domestic Production Rights for all four Aircraft.
In 2017, the corporation started to pump out what she now the current fleet of airliners and also began to retire the Airbus Fleet. With the Domestic Production Rights and the local builder lined up, the corporation was set to be able to build and service the aircraft locally without issues of importing parts from abroad. This made the corporation able to lower costs of flights by several hundred dollars.

Accidents and incidents

  • On 4th of December, 1985: ShazAir Flight 2254 (a Boeing 747) made an emergency landing at Romeoville Civil Airfield after two of its engines caught fire during it's departure flight to an International Destination. The cause was determined to be a defect in the Pratt & Whitney Engines that was unreported to the airline. All Boeing Aircraft were taken out of service shortly thereafter for extensive maintenance. This caused hundreds of flights to be cancelled and more than B$800,000 in lost profits over the course of 4 weeks.
