The Mountain Republic of Ossetia (Ossetian: ), or MR Ossetia or simlpy Ossetia or North Ossetia, is a constituent republic and federated state of the Mountainous Republic of the Caucasus and the nation state of Ossetians. By its constitution, It is a direct successor to the Ossetian ASSR. Along with five other Mountain republics, it was formed during the dissolution of the Soviet Union and became a republic after the war.
