Trebuchet class

HMGS Trebuchet, lead ship of her class

Gallambria operates a single class of diesel-electic submariens, the twelve Trebuchet-class boats which began entering service in 1988. The Trebuchet was designed and built by the Gallambrian Submarine Corporation (GSC), specifically to meet Gallambrian requirements, many of which were derived from Gallambria's need for great range without utilising a nuclear propulsion system. While these vessels represented a major increase in naval capability for the RGN, they found themselves mired with numerous technical and operational problems. In August 2017, the Gallambrian Government initiated the Future Submarine Project under the Sea 2000 Phase 1 procurement program to replace the ageing boats. In February 2018, GSC was selected as the preferred tenderer to design and build the Future Submarine, with the first boats due to enter into service in the third quarter of 2021.
