Bagabiaga is the most populous city in Dezevau, and the capital of the constituent Bagabiada state. It is located on the country's south coast, on the northeastern shore of the Bay of Lights, on the mouth of the Bugunho River. The city is a major centre of its region, and forms part of the core of the Gavujuju megalopolis. It is one of the oldest cities in the region, having been a major city-state or state capital for over a millennium. It was historically known for glassware and pottery, from which the full name of the city comes, zagaza ngigebo baga biadabo dhou ju "city of the heap of shattered glass and broken pottery".
