The Royal CommonWealth of Scottopian Isles is a constitutional monarchy that occupies nearly the entire volcanic Scottopian Archipelago chain that consists of 17 'major' islands and dozens of 'minor' islands that separates the Eastern & Western Scottopian Straits. The Royal CommonWealths diverse natural scenery which includes warm tropical climates as well as snow topped mountains, abundance of public beaches, forests and nature reserves, oceanic surroundings, and active volcanoes make it a popular destination for tourists, business & scientists alike. Due to its central location in the Southern Hemisphere as well as a labor migration in the 17th-20th centuries, the Scottopian isles is strongly influenced by Astyrian & European cultures in addition to its own indigenous culture. The country has over 56 million citizens & permanent residents while playing host to many guests & visitors.

The capital and largest population center is Scottopia City in the Council of Capitola, one of the smallest islands in the nation, located within a sheltered bay on the West Coast of the main island of Scottopia. The city and its surroundings are home to nearly 5 million people or close to 10% of the countries population. It is one of the youngest capitols in Astyria, with the first foundations and layouts for the city first being envisioned in the 1920's, with the official switch from the traditional capitol city of Urquhart occurring in 1972. Other majors cities include: Cappielow City, Davanzas, East Kilbride, MacKenzie City, Milpitas Bay, New Greenock & Port Elisabeth.

As mentioned before, the Royal CommonWealth encompasses almost the entire volcanic Scottopian archipelago, which comprises hundreds of islands spread over roughly 1,000 miles. In the center of the archipelago, the 17 main islands are—in order from North to South: Huntington, Aduna, Clark, Scottopia, San Francisco, Sacramento, Santa Cruz, Capitola, Ibrox, Grianaig, Glaswegia, Heber, Kimball, Uinta, Morton, Kyntyre & Esplanade. Together they form nearly 70,000 square miles across the Southern Ocean. Each isle is uniquely different in many aspects regarding environment, commerce & cultures and with the exception of Scottopia, each island makes up an Entente in the National Government.

Etymology

Early native tribesmen upon the Isle of Scottopia had a word, Skotawia (Skoh-Tah-Vee-Ah), which stood for 'Big Water Island'. Across time, other islands in the vicinity that hosted populations adopted the word within their own languages to represent those that lived upon the biggest island in the chain. With the onset of Scottish settlers in the 14th century, and the influx of the Scots-English style of vocabulary, the wording was altered to Scottopia (Scoh-Toh-Pe-Ah). In the 17th century with additional immigration of European colonists, many of which were Scottish, the word Scottopia was widely accepted as the correct spelling due to the closeness to the Natives language, and homage to the Scottish that had arrived centuries before.

In the 18th & 19th centuries, the Kingdom of Scottopia unified in various ways with the surrounding island groups and soon the term 'Scottopian' was deemed for all under the kings banner regardless of location. Continuing into the 20th & 21st century, it continued to be common wordage across Astyria to label any Royal CommonWealth citizens as Scottopian. However within the country itself, only those hailing from the Councils of Capitola, Midlothian, Northern Highlands & South Scottopia will identify with being 'Scottopian' as each being part of the mainland. Citizens from other Councils prefer to be called by their own identity such as Auchendowrian, Huntington, Inverclydian, San Joaquinite or Wasatchute as in to hold onto their distict culture before unifying with the Royal CommonWealth.
