AleziRadio Festival of Songs 1979
AleziRadio Festival of Songs 1979 is the twenty-second edition of the annual AleziRadio Festival of Songs. The competition is held by the authorities in Radio Zafizamarrah. This is the ninth time that Pyalivostok hosted the event, after doing so in 1958, 1963, 1966, 1967, 1969, 1972, 1973 and 1975, after Harun Samaruddin and the Creams won it for the region last year.
The Metropolitan City of Zafizamarrah is the biggest urban area in the Zafizamarrah region and in North Alezia as a whole even to this day. In 1979, the population of the city reached 1,888,939 people. The city acted as the center of trade and economy between the regions of North Alezia, and also acts as the capital of Alezian modern culture and media, including acting as the place of the headquarters of the National Office of AleziRadio.
The Zafizamarrah Metrotheatre was selected as the venue for this year's festival. The main room can contain 3,700 people at the same time, which puts the theatre as one of the biggest theatres in North Alezia at that time. During ARFOS however, the installment of cameras, additional tables for officials reduced the capacity to 3,200 people. For the first time, the orchestra pit was put directly on stage and also used for decorative measures.
Also, the competition year introduced the usage of steadicam to the AleziRadio Festival of Songs where one steadicam was installed to record contestants freely. The steadicam used was the only steadicam in the entire inventory of AleziRadio at the time. This is a massive feat considering that AleziRadio at that time received many budget cuts due to an economic crisis that North Alezia faced at the time.
Previously, AleziRadio planned to change Post Offices that would receive AleziRadio Festival of Songs Postal Votes every year. However, they concluded that this would be impractical, and thus the list of postal offices that would receive votes from 1978 returned onwards, thus giving the 18 postal offices a title of "The ARFOS Vote Offices".
For the first time as well, regional broadcasting system upgrades that was completed in 1976 was tested where it allows for regional commentators on both radio and television channels to comment on the event using their own languages for the competition. However, English and Arabic Commentary is prepared by AleziRadio themselves and is broadcasted nationwide (except for the Bristolian Broadcast for English and Zafizamarranian Broadcast for Arabic)
Previous frequency problems that were shown in the previous competition was also fixed for the live television broadcast. This means that the competition would progress without any interruptions.
