The Union of Havenesgade–Amager, often simply referred to as Amager, is a sovereign state located on the southern cone of the Aruban continent. There are eleven federal entities that comprise the Union, all of which vary widely both politically and demographically. There are three primary ethnic groups that form the Union, namely the Frisians, who speak Frisian, are primarily Protestant Christians, and occupy the lowland and costal areas; the Gaelians, who speak Gaelic, are primarily Roman Catholic, and occupy areas beyond the Great Escarpment in the highlands and along the Verengering River valley; and the Hrvatski, who speak Hrvatska, are primarily Roman Catholic and inhabit the northeastern frontier of the Union.

The country has a highly developed service-oriented economy, with one of the most well-educated and productive workforces to complement. Following a period of nearly constant war between the fledgling Union and The Algarve, which spanned for two centuries from 1618 until 1792, the country has followed a policy armed neutrality. Nevertheless, it pursues an active foreign policy and is frequently involved in peace-building processes around the world. The largest city of the country, Cape Town, is a cosmopolitan metropolis with more than three million inhabitants and hosts the headquarters of numerous international organizations and businesses, including the World Health Organization, Bank of International Settlements, and the FIFA. The country was ranked first for attracting skilled foreign workers, and additionally ranks highly for economic competitiveness and human development.

Spanning approximately 270,000 square miles, the Union is the tenth-largest country in the world by land area. The country has a very diverse geography, with temperate and fertile lowlands containing a majority of the populations, and mountainous highlands that extend to the barren Namib desert. Agriculture remains an important part of the economy, with wheat, potatoes, animal husbandry, and wine production being the main drivers of this sector. Conservation of natural resources is important to the population, with twenty-seven federally designated protected areas and numerous more at the regional level.

Socially, the country is divided between the more socially liberal and economically active Frisians, and the more provincial and conservative Gaelians and Hrvatski. However, by international standards, the country is perceived as mostly religious and traditionally-oriented. The LGBT community is not widely protected by anti-discrimination legislation, and Abortion is prohibited by law in most regions.
