The Norvish Navy is the naval service branch of the Norvish Armed Forces, responsible for conducting naval operations. The Navy is the largest power among other branches in the country. The navy has a role to patrol Norvinia's 2 major front in Norterric sea and Rimidic ocean, to enforce and patrol the territorial waters and Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ), to protect Norvinia's maritime strategic interests,To ensure the stability of international trade at sea, to protect the overseas territory and to deliver a fast and effective response to global catastrophes.

The navy was involved in Separation War from Bakyernn. Altough most of naval forces and bases in at the time were mainly in subordinate of ground forces until 1837 where it was transferred as independent branch. In the initial decades following the turmoil, the country aimed to prioritize by maintaining a large naval force and the navy was later involved in many coastal patrol clashes against illegal weapon trafficking, as well as other sporadic rebellions that marked Norvish history.

The Norvish Navy has a combined strength of 53,911 personnel as of June 2022 including approximately 6,000 in the Marine Infantry corps. The acronym "NVS", (short term for Norvish Service Ship) is used both as the official naval prefix for all ships in all branch, as well as a common short name for the Navy itself.

Mission

"Steadfast by the ocean's horizon & guarding the blue territory"

As stated in its institutional site, the mission of the Navy is:

Contribute with the defense of the Nation through the effective use of flexible naval power in the maritime, river and land spaces under its responsibility, in order to fulfill the constitutional role and participate in the development of sea power and the protection of the interests in Norrteric, Rimidic, Grimburg, and the Mainland".

In order to accomplish its mission, the Norvish navy establishes four strategic objectives:

  1. Protection of the population and resources and consolidation of territorial control.
  2. Neutralization of illegal weapon trafficking.
  3. Strategic deterrence.
  4. Maritime and riverine safety.

In addition to functions of security and defense the Navy is called to participate in missions aimed to ensure the integral use of the sea by the Nation. For this purpose it must fulfill both military and diplomatic activities along with implementation and enforcement of law and order.

On 2012, 7 Norvish Naval vessel such as dedicated patrol and Fast Assault Craft set sail from the port city of Pearla to take part in International Operation. During the operations, the Navy monitored over 200 illegal watercraft near the coast of Azialis to New Greenia. The operations also saw an opportunity for the Navy to perform naval exercises with other navies taking part in the surveillance efforts; amongst them where Visargia and Morrawia.

Structure

Organization

The strategic command structure of the NVN was overhauled during the New Generation Navy changes. The Navy is commanded through Naval Headquarters (NHQ) in Ashborne. The professional head is the Chief of Navy, who holds the rank of vice admiral. Who is responsible for implementing policy decisions handed down from the Department of Defence and for overseeing tactical and operational issues that are the purview of the subordinate commands.

Beneath NHQ are two subordinate commands:

  • Fleet Command: fleet command is led by The Commander. It holds the rank of rear admirat. Fleet command has responsibility to Chief of Navy for the full command of assigned assets, and to Joint Operations command for the provision of operationally ready forces.
  • Navy Strategic Command: the administrative element overseeing the NVN's training, engineering and logistical support needs.

Fleet Command was previously made up of seven Force Element Groups, but after the New Generation Navy changes, this was restructured into four Force Commands:

  • Gunboat Force: Oversighting, Clearance Diving, Hydrographic, Meteorological and Patrol Forces, an amalgamation of the previous Patrol Boat, Hydrographic, and Mine Warfare and Clearance Diving Forces.
  • Submarine Force, operating the Ambusher class submarines
  • Surface Force, covering the Navy's flagships surface combatants (generally ships of frigate and corvettes)
  • Naval Aviation: responsible for the navy's aviation assets and capability. As of 2022, the Naval Aviation consisted of 51 active helicopters (variations include focused on anti-submarine and anti-shipping warfare and the other a transport unit), with department of training and a trials squadron.

Fleets & Naval Bases

Major naval bases and installation in the country, as well as it's assigned fleet command

In keeping with its three major operational threater: The Norrteric Sea, Northwestern Thuadia, and Rimidic Ocean with blue-water and littoral/riverine operations, the Navy maintains a mix of ships suited to each of those profiles. The scope of its operation has been historically oriented towards lightly armed fast assault craft, and as such, the majority of its vessels had been usually mid-size cutters. Traditionally, the Navy has had strong aspirations towards manuever and lightweight but effective navies, thus the shipbuilders traces its roots to them.

in more recent years, the Norvish Navy has control of three main fleets, including:

  • State Security Department of Lithuania insignia.svg Norterric Fleet stationed in Lorieth. As a deterrent and to defend national interest from Bakyernn influence in the region
  • Insignia of 1st (United Kingdom) Signal Brigade.svg 1st Fleet stationed in Pearla. To overwatch economic assets in Northern Thuadia
  • SGIS Insignia.jpg 2nd Fleet Stationed in Grimburg Isles. Enforcing national securities and protect eastern overseas territory.

Ranks

Ranks and rates are shown on the sleeves of all Navy uniforms (and on the shoulder boards on winter or summer service uniforms as well for officers and WOs only). Shoulder and sleeve ranks are inspired by generic international maritime insignia. Officers, WOs and NCOs of the Marines add the Naval Infantry title to their ranks from Seaman onward, as the Marines are part of the Navy. All officers, active or reserve, study at the Norvish Naval Academy and later in the Naval Polytechnic Academy and the Naval War Academy receive improved training and education to be promoted as well as training in his/her specialty field while all active and reserve NCOs study at the Seamen's School of the Navy and any other independent universities.
