William Mélen Eurenne (born 19 August 1951) is a Shoassauan politician who serves as the Prime Minister of Shoassau, having been elected in 2022 alongside the Conservative Party in an extremely narrow election which saw him defeat incumbent Prime Minister Gabriel Leitner. Eurenne had previously served as an MP in Shoassau's Parliament, representing the Alsace district of Euttel. Eurenne is a self-described nationalist, believing in the self-dependent Shoassauan state. Prior to becoming Prime Minister, he endorsed withdrawing from WEDA, the Coalition Trade Organization, and peacekeeping sectors of the CCA. However, in the wake of the Drambenburgian invasion of Blaoria, the Terehan War, the Brau Sea crisis, and the 2023 Sateroc conflict, his views shifted to a a self-described "promotion of outsourcing security to allied nations."
Succeeding Pamela Acresse as the leader of the Conservative Party after she was found guilty of Islamophobia and discrimination, Eurenne has been faced with many controversies of his own. He is highly critical of the media, specifically Humanité De Shoassau, the Tofino Times, and the Lerbin Times. He has also been accused of Islamophobia and xenophobia for his policies in restricting travel to Muslim-majority nations and proposing strict limits on refugee acceptance rates. When Eurenne signed a law drastically decreasing the refugee acceptance quotas for Shoassau in June 2023, large demonstrations against Eurenne's government occurred.
