The Aletian Armed Forces, officially the Imperial Military (Latin: Militari Imperialis, Greek: Βασιλικόν Στρατός), are the armed forces of the Aletian Empire. The Imperial Military was established on the 5th of March, 3361, as the successor of the Republic Military, the armed forces of the Aletian Republic. The Imperial Military is divided into two service branches, the Imperial Army, which is responsible for ground operations, and the Imperial Navy, which is responsible for space operations. Supreme command over the Aletian Armed Forces is vested in the Sovereign, currently Emperor Romanus I, who holds the unique title of Lord Commander. The Aletian Armed Forces are responsible for protecting the Aletian Empire against ground-and-space-based threats, including rival militaries, hostile aliens, pirates, and raiders. The Aletian Armed Forces are also responsible for conducting peacekeeping, internal security, and disaster relief operations, when required. The Aletian Empire possess the largest military budget in the Aletian cluster, and is largest armed forces in terms of personnel and equipment. Recruitment in the Aletian Armed Forces is primarily voluntarily, although conscription is legal. The 3361 Military Service Act permits the military to conscript citizens, and all citizens aged 20 to 45 must register with the Imperial Service Agency.
