PredecessorYugo Bascava

The Yugo Manaru is the mid-size entry from the Yugo Automobile company. It has been manufactured since 1983, and is a continuation of the Yugo Bascava line

The Manaru is has been considered a family sedan for most of its existence, being smaller than the executive class Yugo Crossville, but being larger than the later introduced Yugo Sloguth. In recent generations, the car has taken a sporty but luxurious role, being less luxurious than the Crossville and the Innocenti Martir, but more so than the Sloguth.

The name "Manaru" was traditionally the name of the sporty trim of Bascava, and was adopted to emphasize the sportiness of the Manaru.

Its competitors for the mid-size car segment include the Nissan Altima, Honda Accord, Toyota Camry, Hyundai Sonata, and Kia Optima.
