The Kingdom of Gay Furries or simply Gay Furries, is a country in south Sparkalia. It is relatively cold, even though it is situated on an island, and has somewhat flat terrain.
The nation was founded by a violent revolution in 1423, due to the prosecution of homosexuals and furries in their homeland. The 2 groups jointly took up arms against their masters and won independence. Several important battles were fought and won by brilliant military strategists who had given their allegiance to the cause, having been hidden supporters since its inception. Since then the nation has been relatively peaceful, save for a 4-year revolution beginning on the event titled the Bloody 1st of May, where 2 of the Army's generals and 1 admiral declared revolution against Gay Furries due to their insistence on mandatory furry transformation where safe and practical. The revolution remained a bloody, hard-fought conflict all the way up until the treaty to end it was drawn up and signed, with the stipulation that the government shall not force furry transformation or endorse any particular sexuality. Despite this, non-furry inhabitants make up a minority of the nation.
The nation is fairly well developed despite still enforcing conscription.
Etymology
The territory gained its name during the fighting of the Battle of Walker's Cross in 1424, where, upon the loyalist forces being driven back by line infantry of the Gay Furries, it became apparent that the nation would have lasting independence. When the 1st king, Sir Oscar Wells, was asked what the nation would be called, he simply responded "Damn it, you could name it 'Gay Furries' for all I care!" And thus, the crude, somewhat on-the-nose name was given to the fledgling nation, though some have called into question its validity considering it was given while the King was attempting to direct forces in battle.
