The Order of the Royal Sun is an Lepidus Celestix religious-military order founded by Grand Master Maius Desari in 798GD. This order was designed to protect travelers of all nationalities on Ilus to travel safely along the terrain and roads that connected all the cities of Ilus. It was also a military force used in wars to protect trade routes across Ilus. Although it is still defined as a religious order, the Order itself had become secularized in the 1270s following a shift in policy from the council. In the present day, it is defined as a Highway Patrol unit for all the nations in Ilus.
History
It was during the destruction of the Cult of the Royal Sun by the Prefect of Sirenea, Gaius Armelius, that Maius and a few followers left to go hide in the Sirena Mountains for a period of three years. During those years, they recruited a small number of believers who believed Maius and his teachings. In 798GD, after 4 years of hiding in the Mountains, they began to spread their ideals to the local people around the edges of the mountains and in the months that followed, would form the Order of the Royal Sun.
