The Grand Chilokveri Navy's CVN-04 programme is a planned class of next generation supercarriers for the Grand Chilokveri Navy (GCN). The CVN-04 design will represent a significant departure from the current Vengeance-class aircraft carriers, and are expected to be both larger and more capable than their predecessors. While the Vengeance class uses a hybrid STOBAR (short take-off but arrested recovery) and CATOBAR (catapult-assisted take-off but arrested recovery) design with both a ski-jump and catapults, the CVN-04 class will be a fully conventional flat top CATOBAR design. The CVN-04 class will feature new technologies such as electromagnetic catapults & arresting gear, a new nuclear reactor design, and extensive use of automation. In future, the class' power generation capacity would allow them to carry lasers, railguns, and other such advanced equipment if or when they are developed. The first ship of the class, the as yet unnamed CVN-04, is planned to be completed by 2035.

Development

In August 2006, the GCNS Vengeance was drydocked as part of a 5 year mid-life refit in which the carrier would be refueled and overhauled. While the Vengeance and other ships of her class had only been in service for two decades or less, the need for a future replacement was recognised. In September of that year, the Chilokveri Ministry of Defence began a series of concept studies for a future design.
