On 20 July 1930, Bjarni Wiktorin and other conspirators assassinated Christian Strömberg, President of Functionalist Ordennya, inside the Ordennyan Military Headquarters in Vastdal, Ordennya.
The aim of the assassination was to wrest political control of Ordennya and its armed forces from the National People's Party, restore democracy to Ordennya, and prevent Ordennya's entry to the Great War on the side of the Entente.
The plot was the culmination of efforts by several groups in the Ordennyan resistance to overthrow the Functionalist Ordennyan government. The success of the assassination and the intended military coup d'état that was to follow led to the restoration of Ordennyan democracy and Ordennya's entry to the Great War on the side of the Grand Alliance.
