Dietmar IX (Gerlach Haymann Hielbert Luther; born 29 November 2008) is Emperor of Berush and the Holy Realms since 2039.
Gerlach was born in Wooder's Burrow in 2008 during the reign of his maternal grandfather, Emperor Dietmar VIII, and became heir apparent when his mother, Empress Hilda IV, acceded to the throne in 2027. He was educated privately at home, before going on to the Charleston College of Ineichell and earning a politics degree. After graduating, he went on to administer the city of Ineichell, before his mother abdicated in 2039 in his favour.
Early Life
Gerlach was born at 17:53 (BT) at Wooder's Burrow on 29 November 2008 during the reign of his maternal grandfather, as the first child of Crown Princess Roswitha Otto Vonnegut Luther IV (later Empress Hilda IV) and Prince Barthold Harmann. He was delivered by Caesarean section. On 18 December 2008, he was baptised as Gerlach Haymann Hielbert of the House of Luther in the Royal Bedroom of St. Niklaus Estate by the Defender of the Faith Euclid XII.
Gerlach was often ill and was described by family as "weak-bodied and prone to colds". He had chronic stomach problems throughout his life, and developed asthma when he was six, for which he had to often stay at home for several hours a day.
When Gerlach turned 10, a private governess known as Sibylle Wehner was appointed to educate him. He did not recieve preferential treatment from the public during his youth, due to the fact that many were dismayed that their ruler would one day deal with chronic sicknesses. Following the end of his private education, he attended Charleston College of Ineichell, the first Berushian heir apparent to attend a university. There, he earned a Master's degree in politics.
