The helderbu (Panthera helderae) is a large cat of the genus Panthera, native to the Greater Heldervinian Area. It has a muscular, broad-chested body; a sleek head; large ears; and a long tail with a tuff of hair at the end. It is a social species, forming large herds; also, more often than not, herds will cooperate with each other. Groups often hunt together, coordinated by an alpha helderbu. The species is an apex predator.
The helderbu inhabits many diverse biomes, though their preferred one is the jungle. It is a primarily diurnal species, though they are quick to wake up if need be.
Etymology
The Heldervinian word helderbu is derived from the Latin word helderae, which in turn is borrowed from the Ancient Greek ΛAΜΠΡΌΣ, which means "brilliant." The generic name Panthera is traced to classical Latin word "panthēra", as well as the ancient Greek word πάνθηρ, meaning "panther."
