Ivan Tonovich (born 3 May 1972) is a Rettoan politician and general who serves as the President of Rettoa since 2011. Tonovich served in the Rettoan Armed Forces during the Vasilin Sea crisis, forming much of Rettoa's modern military tactics and rising to the rank of general by 2008. In 2011, he was elected by the Executive Council to become president following the stepping down of Eduard Ódor. During Tonovich's presidential tenure, the Rettoan economy has grown on average by seven percent per year, standing in stark contrast to stagnation after the 1988 Revolution, driven by economic reforms and a fivefold increase in the price of oil and gas. According to Rettoan opposition politicians and journalists, Tonovich secretly possesses a multi-billion-dollar fortune via successive ownership of stakes in a number of Rettoan companies. In 2024, Tonovich ordered the military to blockade the Roca Inlet and begin oil drilling, sparking tensions with North Kandson.
