The Covert Operations Group (COG) is one of two tier 1 special operations units maintained by West Aurelia and is a major component of the Special Operations Command (SOCOM). Although part of the West Aurelian Army, COG operatives are selected from all branches of the armed forces.
COG is responsible for a range of special and black operations including direct action, special reconnaissance, counter-terrorism, hostage rescue, counter-insurgency, sabotage, intelligence collection, combat diving, and combat search and rescue.
COG is regarded as a tier 1 special operations unit, alongside the Navy's Special Activities Group (SAG).
