The West Aurelian Armed Forces are the national military forces of West Aurelia. It is composed of four branches: the Army, Navy, Air Force, and the Marine Corps.
The armed forces are controlled by the Department of Defense and overseen by the Senate Armed Services Committee, with the president as commander-in-chief. Both the president and the secretary of defense are advised by a four-member body known as the General Staff, which is composed of the heads of each of the branches of the military.
The armed forces is comprised of 157,300 active and 51,200 reserve personnel, for a total force of 208,500 personnel. The Defense Department also employs 94,080 civilian employees.
Personnel
Army
The 93,350 strong West Aurelian Army (WAA) is responsible for all ground operations. 65,800 soldiers are active duty personnel while the remaining 27,550 are reserve personnel.
The 41,520 strong West Aurelian Navy (WAN) is responsible for all maritime operations. 31,300 sailors are active duty personnel while the remaining 10,220 are reserve personnel.
Air Force
The 51,170 strong West Aurelian Air Force (WAAF) is responsible for all air and space operations. 41,580 airmen are active duty personnel while the remaining 9,590 are reserve personnel.
Marine Corps
The 22,460 strong West Aurelian Marine Corps (WAMC) is responsible for expeditionary and amphibious operations. 18,620 Marines are active duty personnel while the remaining 3,840 are reserve personnel.
