The Republic of Sarednia (Saratic: Respublikæ Saratston), often simply referred to as Sarednia, is a sovereign state in eastern Asura. It is bordered by some countries. The capital and largest city is Balysgari. Sarednia has a population of roughly 23 million people.
During the eighth century, Sarednia was settled by the Sarats, a nomadic tribe originating on the Greater Cataisuran Steppe who moved west following attacks during the Steppe wars. In the first migration, Saratic armies crushed the local feudal states and supplanted their lords. This was followed by the second and third migrations, where these warriors' families and other civilians settled in the newly conquered areas. This worried the neighbouring asuran states, who launched several expeditions to expel the pagan invaders. Following the defeat of these attacks, missionaries were sent to spread Alydianism. Following the conversion of Kishir Tuxdomæg to Alydianism as much for political as religious reasons, the Sarats were converted to Alydianism. Saratic cavalry served in many key Alydian armies as mercenaries. SOMETHING ABOUT GETTING INVADED CIRCA 1500-1700s. In the late eighteenth century, Sarednia underwent a national revival. Poetry was written in Saratic, and in literature and music the Saratic intellegentsia expressed their love for their homeland. This led to several minor uprisings which were eventually suppressed, until in 1804 a republican uprising was able to gain independence for Sarednia. The First Sarednian Republic started out as a liberal state, however tensions between the bourgeois elites and the radical reformist Parti Radikalty led to the state growing highly conservative. The Sarednian Republic remained an authoritarian state with the vote reserved to property owners until the Balysgari riots of 1878 led to the storming of the State Diet and institution of a second republic.
