Maganskia (Маганския; Maganskiya), known officially as the Republic of Maganskia (Республика Маганския; Respublika Maganskiya) is a Slavic island country located in the Sea of Sutov. It comprises of two main islands (Novaya and Belaya) and four smaller islands (Kiraka, Bașova, Ryakhov and Norikhna). The capital and largest city is Magansk, which the country derives its name from. Most of the population is centered in the Nyalkovo Basin between the Yelazino Mountains as well as in the southern regions of the country, with the colder and more mountainous north serving as a focal point for heavy industry - particularly coal and nickel mining - and is home to most of the nations minerals.
There are over 20 rivers across the country with 7 of them alone flowing from Lake Nyalkovo, the largest lake in Maganskia. Novaya Island is dominated by the Greater and Lesser Yelazino mountain ranges running from the north to the center of the island, whereas Belaya hosts the Vnazin Mountains.
Not much is known about the islands prior to the arrival of Norse conquistadors and subsequent migrants throughout the 10th and 11th centuries who established several settlements along the south and southeastern coast of Novaya. After several wars against the Turkic Khalyk tribes inhabiting the regions surrounding the Lesser Yalazino Mountains, southern Novaya was split between the Kingdom of Norway and Kingdom of Denmark until the arrival of the Grand Duchy of Moscow in the 14th century. The islands would remain under Russian control until the February Revolution of 1917 when the Magan-Khalyk Republic (subsequently renamed Maganskia) was formed, with full independence from Russia being declared in 1918 with the onset of the Russian Civil War.
