The Ranger Battalions (Radictistani: Rangerbataillone) are elite light infantry forces of the Royal Radictistan Army forming the main offensive element of Special Operations Command. Seven battalions are in existence of which five are comprised of active-duty personnel and two of reservists. The Rangers' primary roles are special reconnaissance, raiding operations, and personnel recovery. Ranger units can also perform company and battalion-sized assaults on defended positions and are tasked with performing stay-behind operations in the event of major foreign incursion onto Radictistani soil.
Operations
Two rifle companies and the special reconnaissance platoon from 16 Ranger Battalion were deployed to the divided island of Indras as part of the Radictistani peacekeeping force. It is known that some Ranger subunits have performed surveillance operations as part of the military response to the Communist Party of Radictistan's domestic terrorism campaign.
Selection and training
The Ranger Battalions are all-volunteer formations. A candidate for the green beret must have served at least two years in the Royal Radictistan Army, be a male between the ages of 19 and 29, be a Radictistani citizen, and have above average physical and mental ability. Officer candidates must have obtained the rank of Senior Lieutenant. All candidates must be parachute-qualified.
Candidates undergo the eight-week Ranger Selection Course. Phase One is designed to weed out those who lack the stamina or force of will required to succeed in further training or actual operations. Phase Two is designed around the advanced infantry skills expected of a Ranger including land navigation, marksmanship, and air assault/combat parachuting techniques. About fifty to sixty percent of candidates pass the course and are assigned to an active-duty Ranger battalion.
Organization
Seven Ranger Battalions exist: 7 Ranger Battalion, 16 Ranger Battalion, 34 Ranger Battalion, 52 Ranger Battalion, 67 Ranger Battalion, 38 Ranger Battalion, and 76 Ranger Battalion. The last two formations are reservist-manned units.

The headquarters section contains the platoon leader, platoon sergeant, and a radio operator. The platoon has a total complement of one officer and thirty enlisted men.
