The Portcullian Armed Forces is the unified military structure of the Portcullia. It contains three branches, the Portcullian Army, the Portcullian Air Force, and the Portcullian Coast Guard. It is descendant from the Portcullian Regiment, formed during the colonial era when Portcullia was a colony of New Tyran. Later, in the Portcullian Revolutionary War, the Portcullian Regiment was broken between pro-independence Procullian troops and pro-crown troops. The pro-crown troops would be organized intro the Royal Portcullian Regiment with the pro-independence forming the Free Portcullian Regiment. The war would end with a loyalist/New Tyran victory but certain traditions would be maintained. When Portcullia would be granted total independence from New Tyran in 1952, an armed forces structure would be organized. The Portcullian Air Force was created in 1954 after crew and equipment were brought over from foreign nations.

The Portcullian Coast Guard traces it's history to the Portcullian Patrol, which was a squadron of Royal Navy warships that were stationed at Portcullia.
