Veľké námestie

Veľké Námestie is a large square in the centre of Brativas, Slovertia. It is located in the city's old town and is one of Brativas' best known squares. Surrounding the square are some of the famous landmarks in the city including the Bartivas Cathdral and the old town hall.

Name

The name 'Veľké námestie' is Sloverti for Grand Square. The square has been known as this since 1867 before that if was known as 'Víťazné námestie' having been erected to cekebrate the Sloverti conquest of South Mazuria

Noteable Buildings

Probably the best-known building is the old Royal Palace which became a museum upon the foundation of the Sloverti Republic. On the southern side if the square lies the Grand Brativas Hotel and there are also many high end restersunts surrounding it.

History

Configuration

The square is primarily a pedestrian zone with a lot of green. A podium occupies the central part for cultural events, and two parallel fountains run along the square. Close to the theater is the larger than life-sized statue of Aleksander the Uniter, the king that founded Slovertia.
