The Fale Ocean Front was a theatre of the First Great War. It was marked mostly by island-hopping combat and naval engagements, including raids on merchant shipping.

St Joseph campaign

Origins

Brytisc entry into the war was sparked by a popular uprising in the then Protectorate of Pepper Atoll, which resulted in the sinking of the Otvazhnyy, a civilian merchant ship from Zhenya.

First Battle of St Joseph

In response to the sinking of the Otvazhnyy, Tsar Konstantin III, the absolute monarch of Zhenya, authorized the deployment of elements of the First Army to Pepper Atoll. In the ensuing battle, the Brytisc garrison was defeated and St Joseph was captured by Zhenya.

Second Battle of St Joseph

Following news of the fall of St Joseph, Fleet Command dispatched an Expeditionary Force to the archipelago. A four-day battle ensued which resulted in the decimation of the Zhenyan force and the recapture of the city by Brytene.

Convoy war

In total, 2,771 troops from both Brytene and Zhenya had been killed or wounded in the two battles for St Joseph. Both countries became wary of further direct fighting; on 24 June 1903, a general mobilization was ordered in Zhenya (yielding about 400,000 recruits over the course of the next 5 months) but most of these were never deployed. Over the next two years, Brytene and Zhenya fought each other in sporadic naval battles and shipping and convoy raids in the Fale Ocean.

Battle of Nortymba

Main article: Battle of Nortymba

In response to the Brytisc harassment of their merchant shipping, Zhenyan command authorised an invasion of the northern canton of Nortymba. Four regiments of Zhenyan soldiers landed in Banff Bay and marched south, where they were met by one regiment of Brytisc regulars and two of Royal Fyrd militia. After two weeks, the Zhenyan forces withdrew.
