Princess Charlotte, Mrs Allen (Charlotte Astrid Charles Frederick Gustaf; 7 May 1931 - 11 December 2010) was a British princess, diplomat, and humanitarian. Along with her sister Josephine and brother Charles, the Duke of Clarence and Avondale, she embarked on a large series of highly successful diplomatic, and humanitarian missions around the globe, having notably served as the British ambassador to Iran from 1952 to 1963. Additionally, she and her siblings also partook in various international missions under the United Nations's sponsorship. In 1961, in a decision similar to that of her sister's, Charlotte also married a British commoner by the name of William Allen, a former staffer at the British embassy in Imperial State of Iran. The couple had three children as a result, namely Arthur, James, and Margaret.
