Equipment
The Imperial Navy features a broad varity of warfare vehicles. In total it operates 508 active vessels in duty, another 40 auxiliary ships and 3500 aircraft. In general the Imperial Navy is fairly modernized, due to the Modernization Act of 1996. The main reason of the previously mentioned act was that Canton had observed that their fleet, although still very numerous, was becoming outdated in comparison with foreign powers. While almost all active vessels are usable in combat, the Imperial Navy retains some ships predating the 1950's, purely to preserve cultural heritage. Every single one of the Navy's vessels are up to date constructed by W&S Corporation. All of the warship classes, their built year, the number of each respective class's active/retired/commisioned vessels, and more details are all found in this register.
Surface vessels
Patrol ships
A patrol ship is a relatively small naval vessel generally designed for coastal defense, border protection, search and rescue duties. As CRD has many unique environments, narrow waters, and the duty to protect GGR's seas too , they operate a wide and versatile variety of classes. The Imperial Navy has currently 81 patrol vessels in active service, divided into 5 classes. The Gugani class, the Cito class, the Dakani Sato class, the Hugana class and the Tawagana class. The first two are specialised in narrow water warfare, like rivers. The latter are more suitable for coastal defence and small to medium naval missions. The most remarkable among them, however, is certainly the Hugana class, because of its sheer size and ability to carry 1 aircraft.
Minesweepers
Minesweepers are small to medium warships with as purpose to systematically detect and dismantle naval mines. Using various mechanisms to counter the threat posed by naval mines, minesweepers keep waterways clean for safe shipping and transport. There are 2 modes of operating an influence sweep: MSM and TSM. MSM sweeping acts on intelligence about a given mine, and produces the correct output to detonate the mine. If intelligence is absent, TSM sweeping dismantles mines directed at a certain course of a friendly ship. However, other mines might still remain. The Imperial Navy uses both techniques in their two classes. In total they operate 20 vessels, but due to the almost finished development of a new more advanced kind of ship, it is predicted this number will quickly decrease.
Minelayers
A minelayer or mineplanter is the nemesis of a minesweeper, instead of dismantling mines they deploy them. Minelayers vary considerably in size, from small coastal boats of several hundred tonnes to destroyer-like ships of several thousand tonnes of displacement.During the 1900's they were heavily used in Canton River Delta to prevent unwanted naval trespassers across their waters. However as a result of new technologies, mainly aerial minelaying, minelayers became largely obsolete. Of the once impressive fleet of minelayers, only 4 remain; they are preserved for cultural heritage and tradition. All of the current ships are from one single class named after a famous warhero of distant times: General Nemaisuki.
Corvettes
Corvettes are small warships, traditionally they are depicted as the smallest class of ships which still are accepted as proper naval vessels.
