AleziRadio Festival of Songs 1969 is the twelfth edition of the annual AleziRadio Festival of Songs. It was held on 13th of June 1969, which was the first time that the competition was not held in its usual 16th of May. This is due to the series of events that caused instability in North Alezia, such as Funeral of Amina Iliya and Assasination of Adaraqqi Iliya.

The competition was held and organized by Radio Zafizamarrah after Muhammad Isbaqarrahim's victory last year. It was the fifth time that Zafizamarrah hosted the competition, after doing so in 1958, 1963, 1966 and 1967.

The competition was held in the Costa De Zafi Hotel Hall located in the Oldport-Newport Area of Zafizamarrah which was at the time suffering from economic slowdown due to the legislation made by the Premier at that time (Amina Iliya) where trade and transportation into and out of North Alezia was severely limited to few select countries.

Maryam Isnoora who won the competition in 1962 returned as the presenter of the competition, already having presented the show previously in 1963. Other than that, Mukhlis Krasnaya Novogrody returned to the competition after winning for Pyalivostok 11 years ago. Dika and Nomaria who was a Mosin-Naganese duo who earned 6th last year, and Santa Liliace who represented Aramna on that year also returned.

Incidents

Delay No. 1 - Amina Iliya's Death

Starting from around November 1968, the State Council of North Alezia announced that Amina Iliya's health is deteriorating. According to the legislation of North Alezia, any Premier who die while holding the Premiership Title should be entitled to a high-level funeral procession and a mourning period that stays for 2 weeks while a new premier was "Democratically" elected (in fact, it was selected from another member of the Iliya family at the time).

While ARFOS would start on 16th of May and Amina passed away the day after, Amina was on her deathbed already starting from 10th of May, ordering for everything to be stopped immediately, which includes ARFOS. Specifically for ARFOS, she ordered that ARFOS would only be held two weeks after her death, and to continue preparations no matter what happened.

Delay No. 2 - Adaraqqi Iliya's Assasination and Death

After Amina Iliya passed away, Adaraqqi Iliya took the position as Premier of North Alezia. Normally, ARFOS would've been held exactly at 31st of May 1969 as the late Amina had ordered. However, Adaraqqi's poor decisions caused him to be assasinated by Aji Iliya (the third and longest-serving Premier of North Alezia) on the 26th of May and once again, two weeks of mourning had to ensue. Adaraqqi himself also told AleziRadio that ARFOS must continue after the period is over

This meant that the competition had to be postponed yet again to 13th of June 1969. At this point the Alezian public starts to be worried about the stability of their country due to their leader changing too many times in a month and due to the fact that ARFOS might be cancelled if the new Premier got harmed again.

Fortunately, Aji Iliya continues to rule without any problems (until his death in 1983) and thus making it possible for ARFOS to finally happen after weeks of delay. And luckily, everything was ready for the competition itself and the competition went as usual
