The Times of Rajyaghar is a Rajyani Matrabashi-language daily newspaper that has the highest circulation nationwide. Originally founded by famed journalist Vijya Dalavi in 1948, the Times, as it is commonly known as, has been sold and bought numerous times before its latest acquisition in 1998 by Adwani Industries. The Times is the oldest Matrabashi-language newspaper in Rajyaghar and the third oldest rajyani newspaper following the Vespasian-language Telegrafo Quotidiano (Daily Telegraph) and Gaullican-language Voix Nationale (National Voice), both established during the colonial era.
Originally founded solely as a daily newspaper, the Times of Rajyaghar has frequently attempted to diversify its editions. The Times previously ran a sunday edition, called the Times Weekly Review which was published from 2002 to 2006 when it was cancelled due to poor ratings and low readership. A bhasdilan edition was proposed for a seperate Harringhata edition of the newspaper in 2015 but this was rejected following poor readership statistics from other bhasdilan newspapers operating in the Union State. The newspaper has retained its online version which was first opened in 2002 with online viewership overtaking printed readership for the first time in 2012.
The newspaper is owned and published by Adwani Industries, a family-led conglomerate with a primary interest in real estate and development. Management of the Times and its editorial independence from its owners has enabled the newspaper to remain the largest in the three star category on the Rajyani Press Ranking System. The Free Press Review 2018 rated the Times as one of the most reliable newspapers in the country with international press associations and monitors rating the Times as a trusted news brand.
