Etymology

The Anglos were a tribe found on Great Britain, descendants of the Saxons of Germany, and the Engheldets were a tribe found on the Western coast of Norway, descendants of the Kalmar Vikings. The Anglos had travelled on foot to modern-day Scotland, before venturing off in boats to newly-discovered islands in 1200, which are now known as the Faroes, Orkneys and Shetlands, alphabetically. The Engheldets also ventured in longboats to those islands at around the same time, with them meeting at Sandoy Island, in the Faroe Islands, in 1232. They co-operated and formed settlements and most of the two tribes interbred, with the half Anglo-half Engheldet culture and race being locally named as ‘Aenglid.’ Their roots remain as the predominant race in Torshyvn, the capital city of the Faroe region. This name kept its name ever since the independence of a new nation in 1848, where it had evolved into ‘Ænglide,’ therefore naming the Kingdom of Aenglide, which is the official name in English.

The standard way to refer to a citizen of Aenglide is "Aenglish."
