Andon Lyobenov Bakalov (born 24 July, 1950) is a Syaran chess player and Grandmaster. Bakalov has won the Syaran National Chess Championship a record 15 times, including two repeats (2003/2004 and 2013/2014). Bakalov is the highest rated Syaran chess player in history, with a peak score of 2809 in 2013. As a player Bakalov is known primarily for his aggressive openings and resolute endgames. A prolific writer, Bakalov has written more than 20 books, most of which have been novels while two have been theories on chess.
