Carlos Oliver Renaldo (born 28 July 1976) is an Ebrarian businessman and politician who has been serving as President of Ebrary since 1 Feb 2019. He was previously a Member of the Popular Assembly (MPA) for the Urtedo del Sud constituency. Prior to entering politics, Renaldo was employed as a junior executive in the Prime Carbon coal company.
Early life
Carlos Oliver Renaldo was born on 28 July 1976, in Urtedo, Laverna Province, the only son of Maria and Abraham Renaldo. His father was a professor of accounting at the University of Urtedo while his mother was employed for some time during his childhood as a woman's ministrant (servant) at the Ebraricist congregation they attended.
Renaldo's academic record was excellent, and he recieved an academic scholarship to the University of Ceres upon completion of national service. He completed 6 months of service in 1995 in the Army Training Corps, being promoted to Conscript II for above-average work ethic. After completing national service, he attended the University of Ceres and completed a dual degree in Economics and Accounting, with grades in the top 15 percentile of his class.
Business career
Telecom National
Renaldo joined management at the Urtedo branch of Telecom National, at the time the largest manufacturer of telephones and fax machines for businesses in Ebrary. By 2008, Renaldo led the small businesses division of company, selling telephone systems.
Prime Carbon
In 2007, Renaldo was hired by Prime Carbon, Ebrary's largest coal company. He was promoted to junior executive of sales in 2009. However, Renaldo resigned in early 2010 to run for the open constituency seat in the Popular Assembly for Urtedo del Sud.
Popular Assembly
Renaldo served as MPA for the constituency of Urtedo del Sud from 8 Feb 2011 – 8 Feb 2017 (two terms). He was noted as a rising star in the Center Reformist Party (PRC), a member of the pro-trade wing of the party. He declined to run for a third term in 2016, instead working independently as a business and political consultant until being selected as the PRC candidate for President of Ebrary in 2018.
