The Government of Velaheria (Dolch: Regierung von Velaheria), officially the Socialist Government of Velaheria (Dolchic: Sozialistische Regierung von Velaheria) is a political structure that works as a legislative, executive and judiciary of the Democratic People's Republic of Velaheria. It uses an Unicameral legislative system.
Legislature
The Supreme People's Assembly is the unicameral legislature of the Democratic People's Republic of Velaheria (DPRV), commonly known as Velaheria. It consists of one residuary deputy from each of the 536 constituencies, elected to four year terms.
The constitution identifies the SPA as the "highest organ of state power" and all state positions, including the Supreme Leader, trace their authority to it. The Assembly typically legislates directly, but sometimes the delegates are tasked to a smaller Velaherian Revolutionary Council. The policies legislated by the SPA are carried out by government officials subject to oversight and correction by the Supreme Leader.
The Velaherian People's Party, which the constitution recognizes as the state's leading party, dominates the Assembly in a monopoly coalition with the Velaherian Socialist Party and the Unionist Party called the People's Front. Elections are held in five-year intervals.
It is where the day to day decisions are taken, the legislative building is located in the Central Venue, Bastaria. Every proposal that's announced is first read out by the speaker of the assembly, after that a brief discussion is taken place discussing the issue.
After that the general secretary of the Velaherian People's party addresses the issue to the Chairman of the party or the president, who then either approves or declines the proposal, following that the legislature votes about the issue where it is either passed or abstained or declined.
It is seen that virtually every proposal taken by the government has passed with a 100% approval making the party nothing more than a rubber stamp done to justify every decision of the party and the executive.
Judiciary
The Velaherian judicial system is based on the ideals of the Velaherian socialist system of just and swift justice. It includes the Central Court of the Democratic People's Republic of Velaheria, Provincial Courts, local People's Courts, and Fast-Paced Courts.
The Central Court is the highest court, with its judges appointed by the Supreme People's Assembly (SPA). According to the Socialist Constitution of Velaheria, The Central Court is accountable to the SPA, and the Criminal Code subjects judges to criminal liability for handing down "unjust sentences".
The Supreme Court of the Democratic People's Republic of Velaheria is the highest court and court of appeal in Velaheria.
The court is headed by a Chief Justice or Consul, two Associate Chief Justices /Vice Consuls and unknown number of regular Justices.
Sub-Courts
Below the high court are two other judicial levels:
Provincial Court or Court of the Province - 48-52 courts
People's Courts or Fast-Paced Courts
Judicial Freedom
The Constitution states that justice is administered by the Central Court, Provincial or courts, the People's Court or fast-paced Courts, and the courts are accountable to the Supreme People's Assembly (SPA) or when it is not in session, then to the People's Ministries. So that proves more towards the fact that the Velaherian People's party is supreme to any decision taken by the court and can vehemently oppose or turn down any decisions taken by the courts if it so pleases, in accordance to the articles of the Socialist Constitution of Velaheria.
Political Parties
According to the Constitution of the Democratic People's Republic of Velaheria, the right to govern and administer the nation lies with the VPP which stands for the Velaherian People's Party, and the two subordinate parties that form the ruling coalition of the Supreme People's Assembly.
The minor political parties are legally bound to accept the ruling role of the VPP. They, with the VPP, comprise a popular front, known as the People's Front (PF). Elections occur only in single-candidate races where the candidate is effectively selected beforehand by the VPP, where every citizen is required to vote, though there is the freedom to not vote for the Candidate and abstain, but that has rarely ever happened. The People's Front consists of the Velaherian People's Party (VPP), the Unionist Party (UP) and the Socialist Party of Velaheria (SPV). The later two parties also get to say about their opinions in certain decisions taken by the government, but in reality these parties have little to no political freedom to criticise any decision taken by the Velaheria People's Party.
Elections
~~Elections in Velaheria~~ are held every four years, where the president is selected by means of popular vote, along with the General secretary, who is choosen by the VPP after the results of the vote have been concluded and the president of the nation has been choosen.
These elections are also done on provincial levels to elect governors and are held every four years as well, where people vote and elect their leaders. Who then serve in that position for the next four years, most of the times the candidates are all from the Velaherian People's Party and thus represent similar ideals of leading during their terms, and thus it may lead to confusion and disinterest to vote for them.
In terms of the presidential elections, only the Chairman of the VPP can stand in those elections and legally compete for that position, which in turn is legally, secured for the starinburg family, and thus its almost completely secured that the candidate would always win those elections.
