The Narqa massacre took place in the village of Narqa, 30 km west of Dar Al Hamma, in the night between October 16 and October 17 1997. The terrorists used for the first time an explosive device in a massacre, a bomb exploded in a local cafe, killing an estimate of 30 persons, majoritarily old persons playing dominoes or discussing. The terrorists from the AIM then killed 60 other men and kidnapped women. The fatalities are estimated to be over 200 but the government probably trafficked the numbers.
